Position Title: Law Clerk

Reporting To: Senior Counsel, Tech Policy

Location: Washington, D.C.

Position Summary:

The Law Clerk will work closely with the department on policy issues as well as on industry research matters. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting legal, regulatory, and academic research on policy matters affecting the video game industry, preparing memoranda on legal topics as requested, preparing summaries of policy and/or industry events and reports, participation in external meetings with policymakers and industry stakeholders when feasible.

This is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable insight into the video game industry and work on a wide variety of legal, policy and industry issues including privacy, platform responsibility matters, e-commerce, esports, intellectual property, digital wellness, and emerging technology issues.

Qualified candidates will be currently enrolled as a rising 2L or 3L in an accredited law degree program with outstanding academic credentials. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in privacy, emerging areas in technology (e.g., artificial intelligence, algorithms, biometrics). This position requires excellent writing and analytical skills, good judgement, and strong attention to detail. Knowledge of/passionate about the video game industry and/or esports is strongly preferred.

This position pays, $23/hour for law students and requires a minimum of 10 hours per week on site. ESA employees are in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
