WASHINGTON – May 7, 2024 – The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the leading
voice of the U.S. video game industry, issued the following statement on the 2024 Special 301
Report released by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR):

“The USTR’s Report plays a central role in our shared goal of eliminating online piracy globally and removing regulations that hinder the delivery of leading interactive entertainment to consumers worldwide. In an age of widespread digital advances that support economic growth and high-paying American jobs, we cannot take for granted the need for fair and non-discriminatory trade rules to protect creators and their intellectual property.”

ESA President and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis

This year’s Special 301 Report outlines steps our trading partners should take to improve
intellectual (IP) protection and enforcement while removing barriers that hinder competition.
ESA appreciates the U.S. government’s continued engagement with the governments of our
trading partners in conducting the annual Special 301 review and, where needed, adopting
action plans to advance strong support for creative industries.
