WASHINGTON — January 26, 2018 — Michael D. Gallagher, president and CEO of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which represents the US video game industry, issued the following statement in response to S.2344 introduced by Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT):

“A pro-growth H-1B visa program is a critical part of our nation’s economic, technological, and creative development. Sen. Hatch’s proposal is a forward-thinking approach to continuing the expansion of America’s world-class, high-skilled workforce.  Adding these prospective jobs will complement existing jobs that drove the US video game industry to record economic growth in 2017, and will ensure that our industry’s diversity reflects that of our truly global consumer base. We strongly encourage Congress and the President to support Senator Hatch’s bill and ensure that the H-1B visa program remains an essential element of our national talent pipeline.”
